Originally known as Mosport, this challenging 2.459-mile road course north of Toronto features dramatic elevation changes and high-speed corners. It hosted the Canadian Grand Prix from 1961 to 1977 and remains a premier GT venue.
Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is a permanent racing circuit in Bowmanville, Ontario. The lap measures 3.957 km (2.459 miles) across 10 corners, run clockwise.
It opened in 1961. Series racing here include GT and Road Course.
The name is simply a contraction of Motor Sport, taken from the company formed to build the place. It opened in 1961 as only the second purpose-built racing circuit in Canada and held its first major event that year, the Player's 200 for sports cars. With Westwood long gone, it is now the country's oldest surviving permanent circuit.
It has changed names more than layout: Mosport Park until 1996, Mosport International Raceway until 2012, and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park since. The track itself has barely been altered, which is the point — it runs over natural hillside with fast, blind, heavily cambered corners and very little run-off, and it is regarded as one of the most demanding circuits in North America for exactly that reason.
