Atlanta Motor Speedway

Hampton, Georgia · US

A steeply banked intermediate oval reprofiled to produce pack racing closer to a superspeedway than to its neighbours.

About Atlanta Motor Speedway

Atlanta was rebuilt with markedly steeper banking and a narrower racing surface, which changed its character entirely: cars now run in packs, drafting matters, and the racing resembles Daytona and Talladega more than the intermediate ovals it sits alongside on the calendar.

The result is close, nervous racing where a single move can collect a large part of the field.

The venue now carries a sponsor name and appears on maps and signage as EchoPark Speedway, though it is still widely known by the name it held for six decades.
