Kansas is a mile-and-a-half oval with progressive banking that lets cars race two and three wide for long stretches. The surface has aged into something that rewards tyre management late in a run, and the circuit has a recent record of exceptionally tight finishes.
Of the modern intermediates it is among the better ones for actual racing rather than processional running.
