Thailand's first FIM-certified circuit, located in the northeastern province of Buriram. The 2.83-mile track hosts the Thai MotoGP amid passionate local fans and sweltering tropical conditions.
Chang International Circuit is a permanent racing circuit in Buriram. The lap measures 4.554 km (2.83 miles) across 12 corners, run clockwise.
It opened in 2014 and holds FIA Grade 1 licensing. It hosts MotoGP. Capacity is around 100,000 spectators.
The circuit was the idea of Newin Chidchob, the Thai politician and businessman behind Buriram United football club, who set out to turn a provincial town in Isan into a sports destination. Construction began in 2013 to a Hermann Tilke design across roughly 1,200 acres, and the track opened in October 2014 with a 4.554 km lap of twelve corners.
It was built to full FIA and FIM standard from the outset, which let it take World Superbikes almost immediately and then MotoGP, whose Thai Grand Prix arrived in 2018 and drew enormous crowds. The circuit sits alongside the football stadium as part of the same project, and the combination has done more to put Buriram on the map than anything else in the province's modern history.
