Phoenix Raceway

Avondale, Arizona · US

A low-banked desert oval with an unusual dogleg on the back straight, and for six seasons the venue that decided the NASCAR championship.

About Phoenix Raceway

Phoenix is not a symmetrical oval: a kink partway along the back straight gives the lap an extra decision point and makes the corner that follows it distinct from anything at the other end. Banking is shallow, so cars rely on mechanical grip and the racing line spreads wider than the track's size suggests.

It held the season finale from 2020 through 2025. For 2026 the championship race moves to Homestead-Miami, and Phoenix keeps two rounds — one in March and one in October.
