Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo is a permanent racing circuit in Termas de Río Hondo, Santiago del Estero. The lap measures 4.805 km (2.986 miles) across 14 corners, run clockwise.
It opened in 2008 and holds FIA Grade 2 licensing. It hosts MotoGP. Capacity is around 60,000 spectators.
The circuit opened in 2008 in Santiago del Estero, built for domestic championships — chiefly Turismo Carretera, the long-running Argentine touring car series. In that form it was a national venue with no international ambitions.
That changed with a complete rebuild in 2012, designed by the Italian circuit specialist Jarno Zaffelli specifically to meet MotoGP's requirements. The work laid an entirely new surface, added the run-off that motorcycle racing demands, and produced a 4.8 km lap of fourteen turns mixing long straights with technical sections. MotoGP returned to Argentina there in 2014, ending a long absence, and the surface's tendency to be dusty and green early in the weekend has been a talking point at almost every visit since.
