Jeddah Corniche Circuit is a temporary street circuit, located in Jeddah, Makkah. Drivers cover 6.174 km (3.836 miles) and 27 corners each lap, run clockwise.
The circuit opened in 2021 and holds FIA Grade 1 licensing. It appears on the Formula 1 and Formula E calendars. Around 50,000 spectators can attend.
The circuit was built at extraordinary speed. Work on the Corniche site took a little over eight months, using around 3,000 workers from fifty countries, 37,000 tonnes of asphalt and 600,000 tonnes of cement — the fastest a Formula 1 venue has ever been delivered. Hermann Tilke designed it in partnership with Formula 1.
At 6.174 km it is the longest street circuit in the championship, and among the fastest anywhere: a sequence of flat-out kinks along the Red Sea between concrete walls, with sightlines so short that drivers cannot see far into the next corner. The first Saudi Arabian Grand Prix ran on 5 December 2021 and was won by Lewis Hamilton after a race repeatedly stopped and restarted, and the circuit's blind, high-speed character has been argued over since.
